Coeur: Wind Flute
Type: Technical
A Coeur that allows its user to control the direction and intensity of the wind by using a mixture of breath control and sound as its catalyst. More often than not, a wind instrument is used to direct it- and thus, Shigekazu himself uses a Flute. Guided by a swift melody, the wind should then be willing to listen to the musician’s harmonious instructions. The wind will only listen for as long as there is a sound, however, meaning the user must keep playing until the desired outcome is achieved. In the case of losing their instrument, the user may whistle as a last resort. It is encouraged that the user learns this art before moving onto the big leagues. P a s t . This particular coeur has existed among the Touma for generations, it’s history tracing back to 21XX. Starting out as a mere breeze, it soon evolved as the Toumas figured out consistent ways to use the wind to their advantage. Getting the most out of the wind was crucial for the family comprised of fishermen, who used this ability to keep the wind in check while navigating the northern seas. As they came to understand the ability better, it slowly went from a basic manipulation coeur to a developed technical one. With time, some Toumas branched out and developed different element affinities depending on their own personalities, but most of them remained Wind-based. -- The wind has always been known for its malleability. Though having the ability to become a strong support coeur, its offensive side tends to be easier to control. I n s t r u m e n t . If ever found without his flute, he uses its loose strands to measure the direction of the wind. |
1 . The wind, as we know, is hard to tame. Having to earn its respect, one flakey note can either lead to nothing- or catastrophe! Because Shigekazu is a late bloomer, though he has basic background knowledge, he has not yet fully mastered the wind’s techniques, and thus it is recommended that he keeps an inhibitor with him until he does. 2 . Due to Shigekazu’s lack of control over his coeur, as he stands right now, he can’t bear to lose his instrument. He has not yet learned to whistle to his advantage, meaning he would be pretty much useless without his flute. 3 . Wind’s disposition aside, overuse of this coeur can lead to fatigue and, in the worst of cases, due to the stress put on the user’s lungs, the body’s reaction will resemble a heavy asthmatic attack.
